S. Asher Gelman’s Off-Broadway hit play Afterglow, which explores the complex emotional and sexual dynamics of a gay married couple in an open relationship, will receive its London premiere at the Southwark Playhouse in June.

The seven-week limited engagement will begin June 5 ahead of a June 11 opening night. Tom O’Brien will direct. Performances are currently scheduled through July 20.

Casting for the three-actor play will be announced at a later date.

Afterglow centers on a gay married couple in an open relationship who invite a third to share their bed for a night. The dynamics of the relationship begin to shift as feelings arise, and each must examine their own definitions of love, intimacy, and commitment.

Afterglow premiered Off-Broadway June 12, 2017, at The Loft at The Davenport Theatre. Gelman also directed the New York production, which generated buzz for its unapologetic portrayal of sex and intimacy onstage. The production was extended multiple times, concluding its run August 12, 2018.
