Oscar nominee Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) will reprise her work as Sugar in Pasadena Playhouse’s spring production of Tiny Beautiful Things, which will run April 10 through May 5 at the California venue.
Based on the book by Cheryl Strayed, the play is adapted for the stage by Vardalos and co-conceived by Marshall Heyman, Tony-winning director Thomas Kail, and Vardalos. Sherri Eden Barber will direct the Pasadena engagement.
Tiny Beautiful Things, about an online dating columnist helping others navigate love and loss, debuted at Off-Broadway's Public Theater in 2016 in a sold-out run starring Vardalos.
Additional casting will be announced at a later date. The upcoming production will feature scenic design by Rachel Hauck, costume design by Jennifer Moeller, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, and sound design by Jill BC Du Boff.
