King Kong, which will make its premiere June 15, 2013, at the Regent Theatre in Melbourne, will feature a "one-tonne, six-metre giant silverback" puppet as its leading player, and the Foxwoods — one of the biggest houses on Broadway — would be well-equipped to suit the production.

Discussions have taken place about a Broadway bow in 2014 for Kong.

Carmen Pavlovic, a producer of the new musical, stated that the creative team behind Kong is shopping around for a Broadway house. The musical was also reportedly pitched to the Shubert Organization, which owns another large Broadway venue, the Broadway Theatre.

"We are looking at a multitude of options following the launch of King Kong in Australia, including possible runs in New York, London and other major theatre markets around the world," Pavlovic told the Times via email. "Of course New York City, being the home of King Kong, is really important to us! Right now, however, all our focus is on opening the production in Melbourne next year and we haven't set a time-line for anything beyond that. We are extremely flattered that so many traditional and non-traditional theatrical venues are interested in hosting the show."

As far as Spider-Man fleeing the Foxwoods, lead producers of the musical, Michael Cohl and Jeremiah J. Harris, said that they had no plans to give way to King Kong and expect Spider-Man to run for "another four to five years at least." The $75 million production lands among the top five highest-grossing Broadway shows weekly.
