Roundabout Theatre Company's 2019 gala honoring John Lithgow will feature a special concert performance by Tony winner Idina Menzel. The actor returns to RTC following her starring turn in Joshua Harmon's Skintight Off-Broadway this summer.
As previously announced, Quite the Character: An Evening Celebrating John Lithgow will be held February 25, 2019, at the Ziegfeld Ballroom. The evening will present Lithgow with the Jason Robards Award for Excellence in Theatre.
The Jason Robards Award for Excellence in Theatre is named after the late Jason Robards for his longstanding relationship with Roundabout and body of stage work. The honor is given to those who have made an impact on both Roundabout and the theatre community.
Lithgow was last seen on Broadway in his solo show, John Lithgow: Stories by Heart, presented by RTC as part of the 2017–2018 season. He is a two-time Tony winner for his performances in Sweet Smell of Success and The Changing Room, and also earned Oscar nominations for Terms of Endearment and The World According to Garp.
