Dear Evan Hansen is ready to cross the pond. The Tony Award-winning musical will make its London premiere in fall 2019 at the Noël Coward Theatre.
Additional information, including casting and exact dates, will be announced later. According to the Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye, producer Stacey Mindich intends to find a British company for the West End bow.
The musical, about an anxiety-ridden high schooler whose lie spins out of control and places him in the digital spotlight, opened in December 2016 at Broadway's Music Box Theatre. A national tour launched in September, with the first international production slated to begin in March 2019 in Toronto. A novelization of the story will be released October 9.
Dear Evan Hansen earned six Tony Awards in 2017: Best Musical, Best Score for composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, Best Book for Steven Levenson, Best Orchestrations for Alex Lacamoire, and wins for original stars Ben Platt and Rachel Bay Jones.
The Michael Greif-helmed production features a set by David Korins, costumes by Emily Rebholz, lighting by Japhy Weideman, and sound design by Nevin Steinberg.
