The Circle Theatre, produced by Charles Evans and W.D. Mann, was located on 1825 Broadway at 60th Street in present-day Columbus Circle. It was constructed by architect Charles Cavenaugh in 1901 and remodeled by architect Thomas W. Lamb in 1906. This venue presented Gus Edwards’ The Merry-Go-Round and School Days. Its final legitimate show was a blackface musical In Hayti in 1909, and the theatre began presenting burlesque shows and movies. After a bomb damaged the lobby in 1935, the theatre was auctioned off, gutted, and repurposed as a roller rink. In 1954, the Circle Theatre was completely demolished.
