Mr. Haley, whose father was the Broadway and film actor Jack Haley (The Tin Man in "The Wizard of Oz"), was once married to Liza Minnelli. He was 67.
In addition to directing the popular documentary, "That's Entertainment!," which offered clips from the most lavish and tuneful films from the MGM vaults, Mr. Haley helmed "That's Dancin'!" and "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz: 50 Years of Magic" and "100 Years of the Hollywood Western," among other projects. He was producer of the Academy Awards broadcasts for several years. The popular "That's Entertainment!" had two sequels, not directed by Mr. Haley.
In a statement, Minnelli said, "Jack was the first one to remind the general public of our heritage. America's royalty is our entertainers, who have given so much to the world."
