America’s Oldest Theatre
Walnut Street Theatre, a LORT producing theatre in Philadelphia, PA, is seeking applicants for its 2026–2027 Apprentice Program. For over 35 years, the Walnut’s Apprentice Program has provided rigorous, hands-on training to early-career theatre professionals.
Walnut Street Theatre produces five Mainstage productions and a full Kids Series season annually in a 952-seat historic theatre, serving nearly 50,000 season subscribers. Apprentices are integral members of the organization and work closely with professional staff across all departments.

Program Details:
Full-time commitment
$500 weekly scholarship stipend
Free tuition to Walnut Street Theatre School classes
No housing provided
Apprenticeships may begin as early as April 2026 and conclude by June 2027 (dates vary by department)
