BREAKDOWN
UNTITLED CAITLIN SAYLOR STEPHENS PLAY
SEEKING:
ROBERTA - M40s-60s. Female. White. An iconic-yet-overshadowed American fashion photographer known for her uniquely surreal and expressionistic photographs of women models. A trailblazer in her art form. Self-taught. Laser-focused on her work and single minded about getting the perfect shot. It’s difficult for others to know what she’s thinking, but she’s churning inside. During this shoot, she’s struggling with a painful personal issue, but doesn’t want to talk about it. Smart, precise, formidably talented. Elegant with a hint of punk. Intimidating.
CHRISSY - 20s. Female. White. A highly successful fashion model with numerous covers (and lovers) under her very tiny belt. Experienced and constantly in demand. Loves attention. Prefers working with male photographers. LA beachy vibes and looks. Plays the ingenue, but it’s an act. Everyone loves to hate her. 5’8 or taller.
MICHELLE - L20s. Female. Any race or ethnicity. A fashion model. Formerly successful in her younger years, now struggling to consistently book jobs. From an Eastern European or Soviet country where modeling was her escape from a repressive regime and where she learned you get nothing unless you fight for it. Exactly the person you want around when the world ends. 5’8 or taller.
ALEX - 20s. Female. Any race or ethnicity. A fashion model with an androgynous style on the brink of success. Dying to break through. Dropped out of college for a modeling gig. Brilliant. Highly intellectual. An over-thinker. A bit of a Joan of Arc. Always ready to work. Feminist and anarchically inclined. 5’8 or taller.
GRACE – Late teens-E20s. Female. Any race or ethnicity. The youngest model at the shoot; this is her first professional job. Curious and unjaded. Unworldly and inexperienced, yet open-minded, brave, and wise. A true artist and lover of fashion. Her mother died, not too long ago. Highly intuitive. Impeccable instinct. 5’8 or taller.
SANDY - 30s-40s. Female. Any race or ethnicity. English. A makeup artist and former model. Effortlessly cool, but also a bit of a hot mess from endless late nights at the disco. Likes a party. A vital secret weapon on any shoot, she is the bridge between vision and material expression, photographer and model. Has worked with Roberta multiple times and knows how she works. Unique individual in personality and looks. 5’8 or taller.
