ABOUT THE COMPANY:
Co-founded in 1972 by legendary performer-producers John Houseman and Margot Harley with the first graduating class of the Drama Division of The Juilliard School, The Acting Company has helped launch the careers of nearly 500 actors, including Kevin Kline, Patti LuPone, Rainn Wilson, Frances Conroy, Harriet Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Hamish Linklater, Jesse L. THE SEASON:
The Acting Company is touring two shows running in repertory with a single ensemble in 2025-2026. The first is our newly commissioned adaptations of GREAT EXPECTATIONS by Nikki Massoud from the novel by Charles Dickens and directed by Producing Artistic Director Devin Brain. The second is a new production of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM by William Shakespeare, presented both in full length and abridged at select matinee performances.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Tour Producer will join the Company’s management staff, reporting to the General Manager. He/She/They are responsible for coordinating the day-to-day logistics of the tour in close collaboration with the Stage Management team and supervising the Tour Production Manager, Technical Director, Wardrobe Supervisor, Lighting Supervisor, Sound Supervisor, and Company Manager. They will provide the General Manager with an onsite point person for payroll, insurance, receipts, hospitality, travel arrangements, and work with the tour production team to advance, load in, and load out the shows.

This role is seasonal to permanent with a successful candidate being considered, at the close of the National Tour, to oversee the Company’s New York City schools tour, reading series, developmental workshops, and annual fundraising events.

Advance Responsibilities:
● Works with the Stage Management team to schedule all understudy and venue-specific rehearsals; press appearances; education enrichment activities and artist talkback sessions; facilitate daily and weekly performance schedules; and supports communicating schedules to appropriate staff and artists.
● Works with the Production Management team to lead advance meetings with venues to confirm space requirements and touring needs.
● Works with the General Manager to check payment status, confirm payment schedule prior to arrival at each venue, and track production expenses to remain within budget.
● Works with the senior management team and booking agents to maintain optimal routing in compliance with Actor’s Equity guidelines.

Performance Responsibilities:
● The Tour Producer will act as the principal contact with all venues, and serves as a representative for The Acting Company at all times while in a performance venue, contacting touring venues and General Manager immediately in the event of travel difficulties.
● In preparation for performance days, the Tour Producer occasionally drives the tour crew to the next venue.
● On a daily basis, the Tour Producer is responsible for prompt communication about and complete resolution of all production notes (especially needs for repairs) described in Stage Management reports with the appropriate design discipline departments.
● In collaboration with the Production Manager, the Tour Producer will oversee the load in and out at performance venues ensuring the work of the tour crew. The Tour Producer shadows wardrobe crew tracks in case of needed coverage.
● In collaboration with the Production Manager, the Tour Producer will oversee the routing and communication with the busing and trucking companies.
● The Tour Producer will oversee the Company Manager to complete, confirm, and communicate the company’s travel itineraries on the road; collect payments due from each venue; and turn appropriate documentation in to the General Manager promptly.

Tour Closing Responsibilities:
● The Tour Producer will supervise final load out, rental returns, and drop off of production assets into long-term storage.
● The Tour Producer is responsible for submitting outstanding tour-related receipts and petty cash.
● The Tour Producer remits a detailed tour log-book for archival purposes.

Qualifications:
Hands-on experience with company management, stage management, production management, and/or general management, particularly as related to theatrical touring, is preferred. This winter the Tour Producer will serve as the administrative point person on the road, touring with the company to a dozen states. The current tour schedule involves 6 weeks on the road (January 13th - March 1st).

The Tour Producer must have a valid driver’s license. This position will be expected to work in person and vaccination against COVID-19 is required.

Pay:
