Theatrical Literary agency based in New York is seeking a highly motivated individual to assist a Senior Agent in our New York office.
Strong leadership qualities, excellent phone and communication skills, multi-tasking and versatility are invaluable in this role. A passion for theatre, film and television as well as the talent agency world is key. Great opportunity to advance with intensive hands-on experience.
The Theatrical Literary Assistant is a crucial position which requires an individual to work well within a team and be prepared for a fast-paced and detail-oriented environment. This individual is expected to show resourcefulness, exhibit accountability, and understand their role well enough to work independently and demonstrate initiative. Theatrical administration, general management or agency experience strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
• Generating client submissions, updating and preparing client materials
• Coordinate meetings and organize busy calendars for agent and clients
• Track all contract statuses on behalf of clients. Familiarity with redlining is a plus.
• Process incoming payments on behalf of clients and track all payments due to clients. Keep meticulous records of all client payments.
• Field incoming phone calls for the agent.
• Maintain a detailed filing system for all client contracts, tax documents, scripts, etc.
• Handle small-scale amateur licenses on behalf of literary clients
• Provide significant script coverage for client pitches
• Track current and potential clients
Qualifications and Skills:
• BA/BS degree required
• Previous assistant experience, 1-2 years preferred
• Internships at theatre companies, literary offices, general management offices, and talent agencies are a plus
• Significant knowledge of the NY and regional theatre industry landscape, including major theaters, writers, and power players
• Excellent written & communication skills
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with a team
• Proficient with Outlook & Microsoft Office Suite, experience with InEntertainment a plus
• Media savvy
• Ability to comfortably interact with high profile clients and to use high level of discretion/confidentiality
• Nimble and flexible to succeed in a fast-paced environment and handle ad hoc requests
Salary: $25/hour (plus overtime if applicable), plus benefits
Hours: 10am-6pm, Monday-Friday
