DESCRIPTION
The REV on Tour is one of the largest in-school tours of its kind. Annually, about 60,000 students throughout New York State receive performances and workshops from our company of professional actors. These performances and workshops are tailored and crafted to meet the specific needs at each grade level, and they happen directly in the school building. We have a long-standing tradition of excellence, and are committed to providing access to high quality theatrical experiences for every child in NYS. More about us can be found on our website here. The track I would be considering you for includes our production designed for middle school students called Echoes, and our high school programming called Improv for All which will teach life skills through the principles of comedy improv.
For Echoes, the show is created completely from the writing of Middle School Students. We receive about 2500 pieces of creative writing from middle school students and the cast and creative team selects about 60 that go into the show (which ends up being like SNL for Middle school students but with many non-comedic moments as well). The cast also helps create original music based on the writing.The High School show is part comedy improv show, part sketch comedy, part audience participation--but the goal is that the students will learn how they can apply the skills that comedy improvers practice and directly apply them to their life.
Here are the nuts and bolts of the contract:
Contract Title: Actor/Educator, Echoes Creative Writing Competition and Showcase (Grades 6-8) and Improv for All (High School Show).
Contract Dates: Feb 2nd-May 1st., 2026 (with a possible extension to May 8th, 2026)
Remote reading of Echoes Submissions January 2nd- Jan 12th, 2026
Arrival Date: Jan 30th, 2026
First Rehearsal Date: (Echoes and Improv rehearse simultaneously): Feb 2nd, 2026
Echoes First Performance Date: Feb 24th, 2026
Improv First Performance Date: April 13th, 2026
Contract Responsibilities: Reading creative writing submissions from middle school students as part of the Echoes process. Assist with the creation of the Echoes showcase. Performing in a 45-minute production of Echoes. Assist with the creation of Improv for All. Performing in a 50-minute production of Improv For All. Driving the company vehicle on a regular basis. Assisting with loading in and out all sets, props and costumes into each performance site.
Pay: The Actor/ Educator will receive $501.05 weekly including housing. Overtime will be paid in the amount of $24.00 per hour. Remote training/ work is paid at $16.00/ hour. Housing is provided and is assigned based on availability.
All REV on Tour company members must have a clean, valid driver's license and be up to date on all COVID-19 vaccinations.
We are looking for both male and female muscial theatre performers. Instrument playing/ Improv training is a strong plus.
