DESCRIPTION

Young actors in grades 7-11* are invited to participate in audition days at People’s Light this March. This is an open call for performers to introduce themselves to members of the People’s Light artistic staff. Callbacks for specific productions in the 2026/2027 season may follow.

Within the season currently announced, we are seeking youth performers for roles in:

  • Cinderella: A Musical Panto – October 13—January 3
  • Urinetown – June 1—August 8

Date ranges include the rehearsal period and public performances.

Auditioners will also be considered for other artistic and education projects currently in development outside the mainstage season.

Pay ranges with the type of production or development project and venue, and can range from stipends through full weekly pay.

Please note: actors who recently participated in the audition process for the teen Performance Lab 2026 summer program at People's Light do NOT need to attend these season auditions in order to be considered for upcoming opportunities or callbacks.

Audition Dates

Students currently in grades 7-11 will be seen on two dates:

  • Sunday, March 22, 5-8pm
  • Monday, March 23, 5-8pm

* Students entering grades 3-7 will be seen in April; separate announcement coming soon.

To Audition

Sign up for your audition slot HERE.

All actors are required to prepare and present a one-minute memorized monologue. This can be a piece (or excerpt) prepared independently, or actors may use one of the text options available for download HERE.

Singing is not required, but actors who wish to be considered for the musical portion of our season are asked to prepare a song in addition to the monologue. Songs should be approximately 32 bars (or one minute) long. Please bring sheet music in the appropriate key, double-sided, in a 3 ring binder for our accompanist.

All actors should please bring a clear, current photo of themselves; professional headshots are welcome but not required. We encourage performers with previous theatre, vocal, and/or dance experience to bring a resume as well, but again, this is not required.

Please plan to arrive 10 minutes before your audition block to complete some simple paperwork.
