SEEKING TECHNICAL DIRECTOR FOR LIVE EVENTS

We handle the creative, production and logistics for small, medium and large scale events in New York, the continental US., and abroad. Good Sense is currently seeking an experienced Technical Director to work alongside the Senior Production Manager and assist with the pre-planning and onsite execution of live events.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BFA in Technical Theatre (or comparable work experience)

  • 5 years professional Technical Director experience

  • Interest in production for live events

  • Strong communication, collaboration and computer skills

  • Basic knowledge of sound / lighting / video / broadcasting / livestreaming

  • Strong knowledge of scenery fabrication, graphics installation and event rigging

  • Google Docs experience is a must

  • Computer drafting skills – AutoCAD or Vectorworks or equivalent

  • International experience a plus


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drafting of production/technical drawings for permitting.

  • Leading on vendor communication during pre-production and bidding process.

  • Managing technical/scenic timelines and deadlines.

  • Supervising vendors/labor providing audio, video, broadcast, lighting, power equipment.

  • Managing scenic vendor drafting to assure engineering requirements/deadlines are met.

  • Work closely with the scenic team on technical integrations.

  • Leading technical discussions with the venue during pre-production + onsite.


PARAMETERS:

  • This is a paid position – compensation commensurate with experience

  • Candidate will work remotely and travel onsite as needed

  • This is a contract position which begins in early 2026 with the possibility of a permanent offer in the future.

  • Passport required
