DESCRIPTION

Amore Opera seeks a technical director / scenic painter to construct sets for its January production of the Magic Flute.

Performance period is Jan 18 - Feb 1st, with move-in day on Jan 18, followed by full tech week Jan 19 - 23rd afternoon.
We expect conceptual design to start mid December, followed by set construction to start in January of 2026.

The theatrical performance will be in a proscenium theater. Current concept for set is to leverage periaktois (rotating triangles) to form the bulk of the set/backdrop, adding either wood cutouts mounted on triangles, or store brought items to flush out the sets. We are flexible to construction methods but we do emphasize reuse-ability (no foam if possible). Amore Opera stages traditional work in period setting. We expect the look and feel to be fantastical yet not overly modern.
