BREAKDOWN

Studio Tenn Theatre Company is a professional regional theatre company and a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Middle Tennessee. It is one of the most celebrated and well attended theatre companies in the southeast, repeatedly recognized by the Nashville Scene in their annual “Best of Nashville” issue as the best theatre company in the city. We are proud to be bringing world-class, professional theatre productions and artists to Middle Tennessee. As of October 2023, Studio Tenn is the resident Theatre Company of the newly renovated Turner Theater in the Factory at Franklin.

Little Shop of Horrors
(9/23/24 - 10/27/24)

Seymour Krelborn - An insecure, put-upon florist's clerk and eventual hero. He is a genuine, well- meaning man who is taken for granted because of his clumsy ways and poor social skills. Gender: Male; Age: 25 to 35; Vocal range top: G4; Vocal range bottom: A2

Audrey - Bleached-blond, Billie-Dawn-like, secret love of Seymour's life. She has poor self-worth and education, but incredibly good looks and a sweet and vulnerable demeanor. Gender: Female; Age: 25 to 35; Vocal range top: D5; Vocal range bottom: G#3

Mr. Mushnik - The seasoned owner of the failing East Side flower shop and Seymour's nosy boss. He is profit-driven, greedy, and manipulative. Gender: Male; Age: 55 to 65; Vocal range top: F4; Vocal range bottom: G2

Orin Scrivello - An egotistical dentist with a passion for leather and sadistic tendencies. Audrey's abusive boyfriend, who is targeted by Seymour. Gender: Male; Age: 30 to 40; Vocal range top: G4; Vocal range bottom: G2

The Plant (Audrey II) - Puppet. An anthropomorphic cross between a Venus flytrap and an avocado, the plant has an appetite for human flesh that is appeased by Seymour. Puppeteer doubles as other sizes of the plant.

Voice Of The Plant - An actor/vocalist located offstage. The voice is that of a conniving, street-smart 'villain.' A funky Rhythm and Blues voice is best. Gender: Male or Female; Age: 20 to 50

Crystal - Crystal, Ronnette and Chiffon are Black street urchins, acting as the occasional Greek Chorus. Young, hip, and smart, these girls are the only ones who have a grip on reality. Gender: Female; Age: 20 to 35; Vocal range top: F5; Vocal range bottom: Ab3

Jersey Boys

Frankie Valli: Male, age 20-30, A strong tenor with a sweet, strong falsetto. Sings in the style of Frankie Valli; tenor up to high A or Bb with falsetto to treble G. Has charm and charisma. A small, tenacious, scrappy kid from a tough neighborhood with an unusually high, clear falsetto. He is talented, hardworking, and determined to succeed.

Tommy DeVito: Male, age 20-30. A strong tenor/baritone voice. A handsome, charismatic, smooth- talking operator with a quick temper, Tommy is a born hustler from a tough neighborhood and the essence of Jersey cool.

Bob Gaudio: Male, age 20-30. Strong tenor/baritone voice up to a high G. Boyish, fresh-faced Bob is the keyboardist. Something of a boy genius, he is smart and savvy beyond his years.

Nick Massi: Male, age 20-30, preferably 5’10 or taller. Strong bass/baritone voice down to a low E. A steady, sturdy, lumbering man of few words with a police record and a strong musical talent. Nick is a dreamer who longs for a life after the Four Seasons.

Barry Belson / French Rap Star (and other roles): Male, age 20-40. Plays various roles including Hal Miller. Tenor to high C ideally with a strong falsetto to G above high C; has the ability to riff in rhythm-and-blues style.

Bob Crewe (and other roles): Male, age 30-45. Intelligent and flamboyant; the genius music producer and lyricist who was an integral part of creating the magic of The Four Seasons. Quick-witted and very into astrology!

Gyp DeCarlo (and other roles): Male, age 45-60. Tough, mafioso type; Comfortable and convincing speaking phrases in Italian.

Joe Pesci / Studio Engineer (and other roles): Male, age 20-30, 5’9” or shorter. Young, energetic and a little over-excited.

Mary Delgado, Frankie’s wife. Age, 20-30 years. Strong singer; tough, "seen it all”, Italian, Jersey girl; she’s got a killer sense of humor; actor also plays a variety of other roles.

2 Featured Female Ensemble: Ages, 18-40. Fabulous, versatile singers and dancers with flexible vocal registers to play a variety of roles including Lorraine, The Angels, Miss Frankie Nolan, Frankie’s Mother and various other spoken and unspoken parts. Believable as "tough-as-nails" Jersey girls; comfortable with four-part harmonies.
