A 6-Session Live Online Workshop
Feb 28 - Apr 11 · Saturdays · Zoom
Turn funny ideas into real, finished sketches in this welcoming six-week online workshop led by a longtime Second City head writer and director and founder of The Sketch School.
Designed for beginners and emerging comedy writers, this live, interactive experience focuses on the practical foundations of sketch writing - the same core tools used across stage, television, and digital comedy. Through clear instruction, guided examples, and optional weekly writing prompts, participants move beyond theory to actively creating original material while building confidence and creative momentum.
Across six sessions, writers explore:
*The essential engine behind every sketch: Game
*Clear, repeatable comic structure that helps sketches build and land
*Major sketch forms including character, satire, and parody
*Reliable systems for generating ideas on demand
*Techniques for strengthening voice, clarity, and comedic focus
No previous experience is required. All sessions are recorded, and participants receive one full year of access to revisit the material at any time.
Writers are also invited to join a supportive online class forum to share sketches, exchange feedback, and continue developing their work, with an optional writers' room add-on available during the course.
Trusted by 1,000+ writers worldwide, this workshop is designed to be clear, encouraging, and creatively energizing - so you leave not only inspired, but equipped with practical comedy tools and original sketches you're proud of.
Live on Zoom beginning February 28.
