Seeking musical songwriters for the development of Polyphony - A New Musical. Each character will use music of a different genre which will require collaboration between songwriters. For more information about the show, visit https://www.polyphonymusical.com. Ideally, we are hoping to find songwriters who are representative of the characters’ identities and experiences.
[MARK] wants to do something that matters in this world but is constantly haunted by self-doubt and anxiety. The only way he is going to grow is to start working with others and the only way to do that is to first face himself.

Topics: Mental Health (Social Anxiety)
[AMBER] is a fun-loving girl who gets taken advantage of at a party, and has to learn to love herself again. She loses a part of herself which is represented by her losing the music inside of her character. SONGWRITER HAS BEEN ACQUIRED.
Demo: Female, 17-18.
Genre: Acoustic Pop (Sara Bareilles, Kelly Clarkson, etc.)
Topics: Sexual Assault
[DAMIEN] studies hard, treats people well, and is the top receiver on his high school’s football team. He has dealt with losing his brother to police violence but keeps it hidden because he doesn’t want to be defined by his tragedy, but seen for the other great qualities he has.

Genre: Hip-Hop (Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, etc.)
Topics: Gun Violence (Police Brutality)
[AARON] comes from an abusive household and has been harassed by his peers to the point where he believes he is the villain in life and feels he needs to commit an atrocity because it’s what he was created for.
Demo: Male, 17-18, Plus-Sized.
Genre: Rock (My Chemical Romance, Green Day, etc.)
Topics: Gun Violence (Shootings)
[ASH] realizes they may have feelings for women and doesn’t feel like one themself, but they live in a religious household so are afraid to live their life as their authentic self.
Demo: Non-Binary, 17-18.
Genre: Punk/Funk (Janelle Monáe, Olivia Rodrigo, etc.)
Topics: Queer Discrimination from Religion
[JANET] is the daughter of an ignorant deputy who starts to have doubts in organized religion as she sees how people in her religion don’t love others as much as they claim they do.
Demo: Female, 17-18.
Genre: Modern Worship (Hillsong, Paramore, etc.)
Topics: Doubt of Religion
This is just the current direction we believe these characters should take. If you believe your music fits appropriately with a character’s journey, we encourage you to submit!
Application Process
1. Fill out the form below so we can learn more about the music you have already created.
2. Those chosen will write a snippet of a song to a certain prompt. (Note: We will sign an agreement where we may not use your song unless chosen for the final step, in order to protect intellectual property of writers.)
3. Selected candidates will officially join the team and have access to the full book of the musical to continue writing their songs in context. (Note: Official collaboration agreement will be signed.)
4. Please have patience, as we will be working on the music of one character at a time.
