DESCRIPTION

HeyCurated is a kid-centered, experience-focused event and education company. We are seeking self-motivated, independent teaching artists to lead and assist afterschool classes for elementary school students in our Winter/Spring 2025 sessions. Class subjects include STEM, Lego Builders, Music, Harry Potter, Arts & Crafts, and more!

We collaborate with schools throughout NYC offering class opportunities Monday through Friday. This freelance teaching position is ideal for performers, artists, students, and educators looking for part-time, afternoon work, approximately 1-5 hours per week.

We are looking for teaching artists to teach the following Winter classes for elementary schools in Brooklyn:
- Kitchen Chemistry (a cooking and science class) - Fridays in Carroll Gardens
- Astronomy Adventures - Thursdays in Park Slope
- Spy Kids (an imaginative play and science class) - Thursdays in Park Slope

A limited number of classes in Manhattan are also available.
Roles & Responsibilities
HeyCurated offers both Lead and Assistant teaching roles. All teachers must be able to commit to scheduled weekly afternoon classes.

Lead teachers develop lessons and curriculum to create an engaged and joyful classroom environment. For certain classes (such as arts and science-based classes), teachers will also provide supplies to students for experiments and projects.

Assistant teachers manage classroom behavior so that the lead teacher can focus on moving the lesson plan forward. Assisting is a great opportunity to train under a lead teacher and gain valuable classroom experience.

Location, Hours, & Pay:
- Classes are held once a week, Monday–Friday, at partner schools throughout NYC and LA. Classes are typically 75-90 minutes long and take place between 3:00-5:00pm.
- Teachers are able to create their own schedules based on their weekday afternoon availability, teaching between 1–5 classes a week.
- Teachers must be able to travel to schools and commit to weekly class dates for the full semester of classes. Class dates are given in advance of each semester.
- Some schools require additional certifications and/or fingerprinting
- Both lead and assistant teachers are paid a flat rate per class session. Rates vary based on the type, size, and duration of the class. Generally, lead teacher rates will range between $65-80 per class, and assistant teacher rates will range between $40-50 per class.
