SEEKING

All roles are African American.

RACINE* — 21. Twin to Anaia. Protective of her sister. She is always ready to take action. Some may consider her loud. Burn scars on arms, back, and neck; face retains considerable beauty.

ANAIA* — 21. Twin to Racine. Emotional. Reluctant to act. Some may consider her timid. Both Twins are survivors of a house fire. Burn scars on arms, face, and neck. Hard to look at; wears a wig.

SHE — Mother to Racine and Anaia. Dying. SHE has not been in contact with her daughters since the day of the house fire. Burn scars over her entire body. Scorched mentally and physically. Feels almost God-like.

CHUCK HALL — Middle-aged lawyer. Has made shady decisions to get to where he is professionally. He has had enough.

RILEY — 16. Twin to Scotch; older by a few minutes. Aware of the world around him. Emotionally internal. Reserved.

SCOTCH — 16. Twin to Scotch; younger by a few minutes. Trusts the circumstances around him. Lives in the moment. Speaks freely.

ANGIE — Mother to Riley and Scotch. Worn down. Looking for a way out. Snaps under pressure.

MAN — A father. Caused the house fire. Does not know Racine or Anaia. Cares about legacy. Feels almost mystical.

*Actors must be comfortable with partial stripping down to undergarments. An intimacy coordinator will be present throughout the process to ensure safety, consent, and actor comfort.

SYNOPSIS

Is God Is is a modern myth following twin sisters who journey from the Dirty South to the California desert to exact righteous revenge. Winner of the Relentless Award, this darkly funny and unapologetic tale blends the ancient and the contemporary with influences of the tragic, the Spaghetti Western, hip-hop, and Afropunk.

Location: Lenfest Center for the Arts

Pay: $250–$500 stipend, depending on fundraising outcomes

1 contemporary monologue (1–2 minutes) on video
