Peterborough Players 2026 Summer Season.
Peterborough Players is a 93-year-old summer stock theatre in Peterborough, New Hampshire. The Players operate on a CORST (zz) contract, producing a five-play summer season in 13 weeks (Two weeks rehearsal, two weeks performance.)
Mission: Peterborough Players enriches the human experience by producing quality live professional theatre, developing and training theatre artists, and offering New Hampshire a wide variety of performing arts events.
The 2026 season will include four plays and one musical. All production departments have professional leadership and work with a group of Core Company younger artists with varying skill levels. All production personnel are provided with housing for the season.
Scenic Charge Artist
Responsibilities:
Coordinate, oversee and execute all stage paint treatments for a 5-show summer stock season
Attend Production meetings
Work with TDs to create schedule for painting all scenic elements
Work with Prop Supervisor on painting of any furniture
Plan and execute stage floor painting during tight changeover schedule
Work with designers to accomplish stage paint treatments according to designs
Oversee and guide Scenic Artist Apprentice
Take care of onstage paint notes as needed
Manage overnight calls necessary for changeovers
Oversee purchasing of paint for all shows within budget
Oversee the safe storage of paint and equipment and keeping a clean space
Duties may change or shift based on the individual needs of each production and its timeline
Skills:
Understanding of theatrical paint techniques
Good collaborator
Team-oriented attitude
Proficient in color mixing
Knowledge of faux finish techniques (wood graining and marbling etc)
Knowledge of treatments for various materials (wood, foam, steel etc.)
Knowledge of patching and finishing techniques to prep surfaces for paint
Experience managing a budget and calculating square footage when determining needed materials
Proficient in reading scaled drawings
Proficient in measuring and layout techniques and tools
Experience leading/teaching others in paint techniques
Ability to be flexible with shifts in work schedules or overnights
Is comfortable working outside in various weather conditions
