Now accepting new works for the eighth annual and uniquely hybrid Rogue Theater Festival! Rogue is looking for new works by emerging and established writers and artists to present live OR virtually for an audience. We encourage anyone who feels they have a story to tell to submit their piece to the festival.
This year Rogue is proud to be accepting Fully Staged One Act Shows, Staged Reading One Act Shows, A Series of Short Shows and Digital Streaming Full Length Shows to present over a TWO week period at The Flea in NYC and Streaming on CUR8.
Basic Festival Details:
- Scenarios Available: Participants may choose to participate in our Live in Person Scenario in NYC, whether as a staged reading, fully staged production or short show OR our Digital Scenario, remote filming anywhere in the world and virtual streaming presentation
- Performances: August 3rd-16th, 2026
Fully Staged Shows will have 1 performance
Staged Readings will have 1 presentation
Short Shows will have 3 performances
Digital Shows will stream ‘on demand” style
- Marketing: Rogue supplies marketing for the festival as a whole and select opportunities for individual shows.
- Tech: Each LIVE show will get one technical rehearsal at The Flea in NYC. Fully Staged Shows will have 5 hours, Staged Readings will have 3 hours, and Shorts will have 1 hour.
- Digital Streaming: Each show will give Rogue Theater Festival their edited piece to be inserted into a final package before the festival streaming.
- To Know: Playwrights and Producers are fully responsible for putting up their production (e.g. Director, union contracts if choosing to use union members, rehearsal space, transportation fees, salaries, marketing, costumes, casting etc.).
- To Know: There is a one time, nonrefundable, participation fee.
- To Know: Each show will need to sell a minimum ticket amount before receiving 15% of the following box office sales.
FULLY STAGED
Details:
- Participants will perform their piece at The Flea in Soho in New York City in “The Siggy” space with all front of house, design, and technical staff provided. They will be assigned a date and time where they will come in for a tech rehearsal prior to their performance date and time.
- Participants will be required to turn in lighting and sound design desires (along with the MP3’s of the sounds) before their technical rehearsal.
- Participants will have sound design done and ready for them on their tech date. The Director and Lighting Designer will work together to program cues and a professional Stage Manager will run all design cues.
- Each show will need to sell a minimum of 25 tickets or participate in a buyout of those tickets with Rogue Theater Festival. They will then receive 15% of all ticket sales made after the minimum is reached.
- There is a one time, nonrefundable, participation fee of $500. You do NOT need to pay to submit your play, only if you plan to participate in the festival.
STAGED READING:
Details:
- Participants will perform their piece at The Flea in Soho in New York City in “The Pete” space with all front of house, design, and technical staff provided. They will be assigned a date and time where they will come in for a tech rehearsal prior to their performance date and time.
- Participants will be required to turn in lighting and sound design desires (along with the MP3’s of the sounds) before their technical rehearsal.
- Participants will have sound design done and ready for them on their tech date. The Director and Lighting Designer will work together to program cues and a professional Stage Manager will run all design cues.
- Each show will need to sell a minimum of 15 tickets or participate in a buyout of those tickets with Rogue Theater Festival. They will then receive 15% of all ticket sales made after the minimum is reached.

SERIES OF SHORTS:
Details:

DIGITAL:
Details:
- Participants will film their piece remotely and send Rogue Theater Festival their finished product.
- Participants may film their piece on zoom, in their home, on location, in a theater they have access to, or any other way they can SAFELY imagine as long as the quality of the video and audio is acceptable.
- Rogue will create a ‘final package’ including an introduction for the festival, the filmed piece, and any bonus features you would like featured at the end.
- Each show will need to sell a minimum of 15 tickets or participate in a buyout of those tickets with Rogue Theater Festival. They will then receive 15% of all ticket sales made after the minimum is reached.
- There is a one time, nonrefundable, participation fee of $100. You do NOT need to pay to submit your play, only if you plan to participate in the festival.
Entrance Requirements:
- Fully Staged: 45 minutes to 1 hour and 45 minutes long (no intermission)
- Staged Reading: 45 minutes to 1 hour and 45 minutes long (no intermission)
- Series of Shorts: 10 minutes to 15 minutes long (no intermission)
- Digital Streaming: 45 minutes to 2 hours and 30 minutes (no intermission)
- It may be a play, musical, improv piece, stand up comedy set, clowning routine, solo show, burlesque number, poetry, spoken word, song cycle, or dance. If you have something else we’d be thrilled to hear from you too!
- It must be an original work, but having been performed before is totally fine.
HOW TO SUBMIT!
Please submit your piece by visiting www.roguetheaterfestival.com and clicking on the “Submit Your Play” tab. The deadline for all submissions is Saturday, March 15th. We will be reviewing all submissions and contacting selected participants on or before Monday, March 31st.
If selected, there will be a one-time participation fee. Fully Staged: Participants ($500), Staged Reading: Participants ($225), Series of Shorts: Participants ($200) and Digital Streaming: Participants ($100). These are non-refundable. In Person shows will happen August 3rd-16th at The Flea in New York City and Digital Streaming will be on CUR8.
