Position: Props Supervisor @ Bay Street Theater - Summer 2025

Compensation: $1,200/week

Reports to: Director of Production

Supervises: Assistant Props Supervisor

Location: The Props Supervisor position is on-site in NYC, Sag Harbor, and Riverhead, NY. Housing is available.

Schedule: The work schedule is determined by the Director of Production. This position requires regular evening and weekend work in conjunction with BST’s performance calendar. This is a seasonal position.

End Date of Employment: September 7, 2025

Duties and Responsibilities

The Props Supervisor will support all properties and set dressing for the mainstage season of 4 shows, and ensure smooth productions that come in on-time and on-budget.

Props Supervisor has access to the Bay Street Theater prop storage for the purpose of utilizing props for Bay Street Theater productions, as well as necessary tool usage and shop space for building to be coordinated with the Technical Director. This position requires regular evening and weekend work in conjunction with BST’s performance calendar.

The Props Supervisor’s general responsibilities will include:

PRE-PRODUCTION

- Attend Production Meetings

- Meet with director, set designer, and stage management to determine props, furniture, and set dressing requirements.

- Provide a budgeted props list including all purchases, rentals, and expendables.

- Coordinate purchasing with Director of Production, including Petty Cash.

REHEARSAL - NYC, NY

- Provide rehearsal package of props/furniture.

- Coordinate movement of rehearsal props to and from rehearsal room with Director of Production

- Be on-site to present and organize props items to stage management.

- Maintain communication with rehearsal team to ensure adds/cuts/changes are completed within a reasonable amount of time.

- Attend invited run-through(s) of the production in rehearsal room.

- Lead the load-out crew to organize and pack all props items to travel to Sag Harbor.

SHOP WORK - Riverhead, NY

- Pull any usable props items from Bay Street’s stock for rehearsal or show.

- Coordinate work time on-site in Riverhead with Technical Director.

- Discuss any carpentry build or material needs with Technical Director.

- Discuss any paint treatment needs with Scenic Charge Artist.

TECH/DRESS/PREVIEWS- Bay Street Theater, Sag Harbor, NY

- Supervise unloading and organizing props as they arrive to the theater

- Coordinate preset placement with stage management

- Coordinate set dressing schedule with Director of Production

- Attend all technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and previews.

- Supervise/execute any adds/cuts/changes to the props/furniture/set dressing.

- Supervise/execute any repairs or modifications to the props/furniture/set dressing.

- Submit all receipts for reimbursement to Director of Production

STRIKE

- Coordinate with staff to ensure all stock and purchased items are returned to storage.

- Coordinate with staff to ensure all rented/borrowed items are returned on-time.
