DESCRIPTION

The McKittrick Hotel, home of Sleep No More, Gallow Green, Manderley Bar, and The Club Car is seeking a Prop Runner. The Prop Runner is responsible for working alongside the prop day crew to prep and pre-set for performances of Sleep No More, as well as provide support during the show. They will be responsible for preserving the good condition of all prop elements and ensure that they are safe and well functioning. The successful candidate will prepare consumables, provide prop support during performances of Sleep No More, and assist in the post-show responsibilities necessary to maintain a safe, clean, and functional show run. The Prop Runner will respond to prop related calls during the show, and assist the Stage Management team with any issues that may arise. Duties will be completed while remaining in compliance with local, state and federal regulations.


We are seeking someone who is a true self-starter, a multi-tasker, and someone able to prioritize responsibilities. Candidates will demonstrate attention to detail, creative problem-solving skills, possess and exhibit empathy, exude a good sense of humor, and a track record of on-their-feet problem solving. Candidates must be proactive and possess clear communication skills and the ability to be a team player.

Responsibilities:

- Report to the Prop Manager and Scenic & Props Supervisor prior to show run and Head Stage Manager during and after performances.

- Follow the guidance of the Prop Manager and Scenic & Props Supervisor in the maintenance of existing prop and scenic elements.

- Maintain a safe working environment at all times, and will report any unsafe conditions or behavior to the Director of Production or Human Resources.

- Complete the NYC Department of Health food handling safety course.

- Work closely with other production departments, including Stage Management, Lighting, Costumes, and Audio, to maintain the props as necessary.

- Assist with the preset of all props of Sleep No More in tandem with the other members of the props team.

- May, on occasion, be shadowed by an apprentice and will answer questions about their work and process from said apprentice to the best of their ability.

- Will be familiar with the run and action of Sleep No More.

- Should be independent, have an excellent attitude, and strong communication skills.

- Run 7 performances per week totaling 40 hrs/wk over 5 days.

- Responsible for organizing and making consumables for Sleep No More.

- Maintain sanitary and organized prep spaces.

- Be onsite during performances to respond to situations that arise during the show.

- Assist in post-show procedures and any necessary prep for the next performance.


Qualifications:

- Associate of Arts or BFA in Technical Theatre or related field or equivalent experience.

- 1+ years of professional experience.

- Demonstrate strong collaborative, communication, and technical skills

- Demonstrate a willingness to maintain high standards for a quality, safe, and support work environment

- Demonstrate a strong sense of self-efficiency and organization

- Demonstrate strong problem solving skills and efficiency when working under pressure, time constraints, dim lighting, show volume, and in view of audience members.


Environmental Factors:

*Can complete responsibilities and duties under the following conditions, when working in show conditions*

- Strobing lights

- Continuous, large quantities of haze

- Minimal to no lighting

- Spaces which contain large amounts of dust & uneven flooring

- Required half-masks worn by all employees during performance

- Numerous trips up and down six floors, unaided by the elevator

SALARY

$25.00 – $25.00 per hour
