Position Summary
This position will work closely with Grantmaking Programs, Digital, and Development teams to build and maintain positive relationships with program alumni and the American Theatre Wing’s internal and external stakeholders. They will serve as the primary liaison through various forms of communication and engagement. The Associate also oversees event logistics and ensures the accuracy of alumni data records while assisting with the management of digital marketing efforts.
Ideal candidates have a concentration in communications/marketing/development along with demonstrated experience in working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities
Communications & Marketing
Collect alumni testimonials, career updates, and impact stories.
Highlight alumni success stories for fundraising campaigns and institutional storytelling.
Coordinate with Sr. Manager of Social and Digital Marketing to elevate alumni achievements across social media, newsletters, and annual reports.
Perform QA across websites and all relevant materials.
Conduct research as necessary among other assigned duties.
Assist with fundraising events (in-person and virtual), with donors, Board, Advisory Committee members, and Alumni.
Alumni Engagement
Build a centralized alumni database and maintain accurate contact information and career tracking records.
Moderate and monitor a digital hub of communication for alumni (Instagram Group, Discord server, etc).
Coordinate with Sr. Manager of Grantmaking Programs and Awards to facilitate the learning and development of alumni by assessing ongoing support needs and identifying future opportunities.
Segment alumni audiences and create targeted groups (stages in career, local vs. Regional, disciplines).
Community Building & Programming
Assist with alumni events (in-person and virtual), including panels and networking events.
Facilitate mentorship opportunities for alumni and current program participants through our current partnerships including UStrive.
Collaborate with Programs team to integrate alumni into educational initiatives and digital programming.
Qualifications
A team player who values collaboration and can work independently.
Social media expertise, particularly Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
A willingness to work outside of standard business hours on occasion, if needed.
Comfortability working at a desk for long periods of time.
An expert communicator who is confident speaking on the phone, sending emails, and presenting.
An interest in traditional, digital, and event marketing as a way of storytelling.
Organized with attention to detail.
Digital literacy and familiarity with SEO and SEM.
Ability to handle abstract concepts, systems, and ideas.
Commits to actively being part of and supporting an inclusive workplace.
A passion for theatre is a plus!
