Employment Type: Full-Time, Temporary (ATPAM)
Anticipated Coverage Period: Summer 2026 through Winter (exact dates subject to change)
Schedule: Evenings, weekends, and holidays required
Reports To: House Manager / Front of House Leadership


Position Summary

The Assistant House Manager supports the theatre in the daily front-of-house operations and helps ensure a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for audiences, artists, and staff. This full-time, temporary position covers a maternity leave and is anticipated to span from summer through winter. The role is part of the Front of House leadership team and serves as Manager on Duty during performances as assigned.


Responsibilities

  • Serve as Manager on Duty during performances
  • Oversee front-of-house operations including house opening/closing, late seating, intermission flow, and post-show procedures
  • Supervise and support front-of-house staff (ushers, ticket takers/scanners, lobby staff, security)
  • Address patron concerns with professionalism, empathy, and discretion
  • Enforce fire code regulations, safety protocols, capacity limits, and emergency procedures
  • Coordinate with Box Office/Ticketing, Operations/Facilities, Stage Management, Production, and General Management
  • Assist with training, onboarding, and ongoing support of front-of-house staff
  • Complete attendance counts, incident reports, and nightly operational notes
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in theatre, live events, hospitality, or customer service management
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with Broadway operations and union environments
  • Previous Manager-on-Duty or front-of-house supervisory experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems; Telecharge a plus
  • Experience with HRIS systems (UKG preferred)

Certifications (Preferred)

  • FDNY Certificate of Fitness (F-03 and/or F-04) or willingness to obtain
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain

Compensation & Benefits

  • Full-Time ATPAM maternity leave coverage position
  • Starting Scale Rates (NYC):
    • Assistant (NMAM): $1,371.63/week + 8.5% vacation pay
    • Associate: $2,075.70/week + 8.5% vacation pay
  • Rate placement determined by experience and applicable ATPAM classification
  • Select benefits provided pursuant to the ATPAM Collective Bargaining Agreement
