Position Summary

The Production Director is a full-time annual position that oversees all aspects of the technical preparation and production for a variety of Artis­—Naples presentations, touring Broadway productions, special events, Naples Philharmonic performances, educational activities, and rental events.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

  • Oversees a team that works with presentations, touring Broadway, Naples Philharmonic conductors and guest artists, the Artis—Naples education team, outside rentals, and others to coordinate all production requirements for events, rehearsals, and performances.
  • Create and maintain production team project assignments in order to cover all associated Artis—Naples activities.
  • Advance with guest artists for assigned productions and be on-site to oversee and troubleshoot Artis—Naples events from load-in through performances and load-out.
  • Provide for use of contracted equipment, including but not limited to musical instruments, properties, audio-visual equipment, etc.
  • Coordinate event specifics with other production personnel.
  • Arrange for outside services, including but not limited to keyboard tuning, backline rental, fire watch, page-turners, etc.
  • Along with Artistic Operations production team, create schedules for House and Call-In Crew. Distribute crew schedules. Maintain professional relationship with IATSE Business Agent. Maintain crew schedule archive.
  • Assist in creating budget estimates for internal and external events. Determine ongoing Artis—Naples production expenditures and maintenance costs to submit for annual budgeting consideration.
  • Submit to the Finance Department, with accuracy and promptness, payroll summary reports for Call-In Crew and House Crew.
  • Coordinate with the Event Services team for support for outside rental events as well as guest artist hospitality and crew meals.
  • Prepare daily reports, payroll and other reports with accuracy and consistency.
  • Provide support for IATSE contract negotiations and implementation as required by the EVP, Artistic Operations.
  • Work effectively with all Artis—Naples team members.
  • Maintain and archive accurate event files.

Qualifications

The applicant shall demonstrate knowledge of and experience in stage production. Must have ability to manage numerous details in a thorough and careful manner. Must have excellent communication and interactive skills.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in music, theatre, business, or related field preferred; or equivalent experience in similar position.

  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

Computer Skills

Proficient use of Microsoft Office. Familiarity with ArtsVision, Vectorworks and Visio preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with limited resources under tight timeframes.
  • Must be able to demonstrate patience, sensitivity and diplomacy when interacting with IATSE crew, musicians of the Naples Philharmonic, visiting artists and production staff.
  • Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions provided in writing, diagrams and verbally.
  • Must be able to successfully interact with others both inside and outside the organization.
