Amas Musical Theatre, celebrating 58 years as New York’s award-winning pioneer in new musical development promoting cultural equity and diversity, seeks an outstanding theatre arts professional as a part-time Managing Director to support the operational, event, and fundraising needs of our theatre company. This role works closely with the Artistic Producer to ensure that artistic programming is well-supported, sustainable, and successfully executed.

Reporting to and working closely with the Artistic Producer, the Managing Director is responsible for administrative leadership within the organization. The Managing Director position requires a collaborative leader with a passion for musical theatre, uplifting diverse voices and developing new generations of arts professionals.

A successful candidate possesses an entrepreneurial spirit, a progressive approach to management and a calm demeanor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Artistic Producer on planning and executing productions, events, and special programs
  • Assist with fundraising efforts, including donor relations, benefit events, and sponsorships
  • Support budgeting, financial tracking, and basic administrative operations
  • Coordinate logistics for performances and special events
  • Serve as a liaison among board members, staff, and external partners
  • Support marketing and audience development efforts as needed
  • Supervise day-to-day administrative duties and oversee financial and facilities management, intern supervision, institutional marketing, IT, operational systems and processes,
  • Qualifications
  • Experience in arts administration, nonprofit management, event planning, or fundraising preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a creative, fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative, proactive, and detail-oriented
  • Passion for theatre and live performances

Position Details

  • Part-time
  • Flexible schedule, with some evening/weekend availability for events and performances
  • This part-time position is ideal for someone who enjoys collaboration, working across multiple aspects of a small theatre company helping to grow its impact through strong operations and successful events and programming

SALARY

$35.00 – $41.00 per hour
