DESCRIPTION
NexGen Youth Theatre, an educational youth theatre company based in Manhattan, is seeking a teaching artist / music director for their upcoming in-school musical theatre and creative writing program beginning the last week of January and ending mid-June (Chinatown area).
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
-Teaching the core elements of musical theatre
-Teaching music and accompanying for rehearsal and performance
-Co-creating and devising an original story using pre-existing songs, or help creating originals
SCHEDULE:
Mondays 12:15pm-1:15pm
Tuesdays 12:30pm-2pm
Fridays 12:15pm-1:15pm
PLEASE NOTE: Two of the three classes a week will be co-taught and focused on musical theater/show building, while the other one is solo taught and focused on music. School observed holidays and breaks followed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience as a teaching artist
- Experience working with ELL/ English Language Learners
- Experience co-creating / devising original work
- Fingerprinted with the DOE
RATE:
Per class, with a grand total around $3,500 (depending on availability)
