Position Title: Musical Theatre Acting Instructor & Youth Production Director

Location: Shenzhen, China (Short-Term Contract with Renewal Potential)

Organization: YAYA Theatre Company (NYC–London–China Global Production System)

YAYA Theatre Company is an international musical theatre production system with studios in New York, London, and China. We create original youth productions, collaborate with Broadway and West End artists, and operate a global performance pipeline connecting students to real international stages.

We are seeking a Broadway-style Musical Theatre Acting Instructor & Youth Production Director to join our Shenzhen company as a key artistic leader.

Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Coaching (ages 6–18)
• Teach acting, movement, musical theatre performance
• Lead warm-ups that incorporate imagination, embodiment, and storytelling
• Build classroom flow with strong pacing and emotional connection
• Adapt teaching for bilingual/ESL students when necessary

2. Rehearsal & Direction
• Direct scenes, character work, ensemble building
• Provide clear notes, demonstrations, and practical techniques
• Help young actors understand intention, objective, action, and emotional truth

3. Curriculum & Pedagogy
• Design lesson plans centered on technique—not just games
• Link all exercises to training goals (acting, voice, movement, storytelling)
• Maintain a structured, professional rehearsal environment

4. Artistic Leadership
• Work collaboratively with visiting Broadway/West End Music Directors
• Elevate the artistic standards and introduce authentic American musical theatre methodology
• Bring a positive, motivating, professional presence to the company

Requirements
✓ Training in Musical Theatre / Acting (BFA/MFA preferred)
✓ Experience teaching youth or directing youth productions
✓ Strong understanding of American acting methods (Meisner/Stanislavski/Acting Through Song)
✓ Ability to demonstrate techniques physically and verbally
✓ Classroom leadership: pacing, transitions, discipline, engagement
✓ Warm, patient, energetic personality
✓ Passion for youth arts education
✓ Ability to adapt to a multicultural environment

Bonus Qualifications
✔ Broadway/Regional theatre performance or creative experience
✔ Experience working with ESL students
✔ Vocal coaching, choreography, or movement background
