BREAKDOWN

Moonlight Stage Productions 2026 Season

THE CHER SHOW

Nikki Snelson - Director/Choreographer

Lyndon Pugeda - Musical Director/Conductor

First Non-Equity Rehearsal: 3/28

First Equity Rehearsal: 4/12

Open: 4/29

Close: 5/16

SEEKING:

BABE: Female, 18-22. Cher at the early stage of her life. Fiercely independent but insecure about her looks, being “different”, being challenged from dyslexia. Anxious to “get up and get out”, to sing, to dance, to act, to be somebody. Determined to be famous, drawn to Hollywood and the movies. Surrounded by women as a girl; eager for romantic encounters as a teen. Seeing Sonny for the first time is her “Romeo and Juliet moment.” Has an excellent pop/rock voice. Role will be understudied.

LADY: Female, 30-35. Cher in her 30s. Delighted by the power and trappings of stardom. Exhausted by the demands of a fully booked life. She wears her fame and her femininity as naturally as any of the famous Mackie creations, with ease and aplomb. In the spotlight, she thrives. Out of it, she pines for the minutiae of ordinary life – going to the movies, shopping with friends, being a mommy, making music. Has an excellent pop/rock voice. Role will be understudied.

STAR: Female, 45-55. Cher as we see her now. She might have been willing to settle for less if she’d known that this is what it's like to have it all. But she doesn’t settle, she strives. She pushes through the old fears and insecurities to try new things, to be new versions of herself. Brings her talent for being real to her music, and to her acting. And, to her search for love, for a good man who can handle a powerful woman. Has an excellent pop/rock voice. Role will be understudied.

SONNY BONO: Male, 35-45. Charming, funny, adorable, ambitious – but capable of being controlling, inconstant and manipulative. He’s the hero and the villain – a romantic and a cad, a lover and a jailer, part Othello and part Iago. That’s what makes him interesting, to Cher and to us. Has an excellent pop/rock voice. Role will be understudied.

GEORGIA HOLT / LUCILLE BALL: Female, 40-50. Cher’s mother. Gorgeous, talented and independent. Could’ve given Marilyn Monroe a run for her money but lacked the killer instinct. Happy to attach and detach herself from any guy, even the ones she marries. She wants her daughter to be somebody, and she teaches her by example. Not the cliché stage mother, not the cliché stay-at-home mom, but squarely in her kid’s corner, through thick and thin. Will also double as Lucille Ball. Has an excellent pop/rock voice. Role will be understudied.

BOB MACKIE / ROBERT ALTMAN: Male, 35-55. The somewhat eccentric fashion designer responsible for designing Cher’s outfits for her shows. Will also double as famous film and theatre director Robert Altman. Has excellent comedic timing and a fantastic singing voice. Role will be understudied.

GREGG ALLMAN / JOHN SOUTHALL: Male, 25-40. Known for his success as part of “The Allman Brothers Band.” A romantic relationship with Cher starts after she separates from Sonny Bono and eventually, they marry. Young, handsome, sexy, and surprisingly smart. Has an excellent pop/rock singing voice and guitar playing is a plus. Role will be understudied.

ROB CAMILLETTI: Male, 25-35. “The Bagel Boy.” Cher’s very young love interest later in her life. A sweet, charming, Italian young man. Genuinely loves Cher for who she really is. Has an excellent pop/rock voice. Role will be understudied.

ENSEMBLE: Any gender or ethnicity, 18+, excellent dancers in both ballet and jazz; have strong contemporary musical theater voices; diverse and unique performers; a range of ensemble roles.

MEAN GIRLS

John Vaughan - Director/Choreographer

Randi Rudolph - Musical Director/Conductor

First Non-Equity Rehearsal: 5/2

First Equity Rehearsal: 5/17

Open: 6/3

Close: 6/20

SEEKING:

CADY: Female, 18+ to play late teens. A new student at North Shore High School, Cady grew up in Africa and was homeschooled by her wildlife biologist parents. She is warm, curious, and extremely intelligent. Taking on The Plastics becomes an exhilarating game of chess for her - after all, this social hierarchy gives her a clear structure she can buy into while she’s still finding her place in this new, confusing world.

REGINA: Female, 18+ to play late teens. Regina is the founder and leader of The Plastics. Every trend at North Shore High starts with her. She is regal, calculated, and a master of the social game of chess, but at her most vulnerable moments, she’s just another teenage girl facing all the complexities that come with adolescence. When you’re in with her, life is good, but she’s a fearsome enemy nobody wants to have.

JANIS: Female, 18+ to play late teens. A self-proclaimed art freak, activist, and social outcast, Janis is not afraid to be weird or make others uncomfortable - she is unapologetically herself in every way. Even though she touts herself as an objective observer, she has a real chip on her shoulder when it comes to her explosive past with Regina. She’s hoping that Cady will be the third musketeer with her and Damian to make their own lovable weirdo version of The Anti Plastics.

DAMIAN: Male, 18+ to play late teens. Almost too gay to function. Outgoing, fun, and well-versed on the ins and outs of North Shore High’s social scene, Damian is a fiercely loyal friend to Janis, and a welcoming presence to Cady on her first day. He loves a big spectacle and is always looking for an excuse to make life more like a Broadway musical (full of dance breaks, of course). Probably chronically online.

GRETCHEN: Female, 18+ to play late teens. One of The Plastics. The ultimate people pleaser, Gretchen is constantly trying to anticipate Regina’s wants and meet Regina’s sky-high expectations. In order to survive the vicious high school food chain, she’s become a transactional social butterfly - she befriends people to learn their secrets only to trade them later for her own benefit. Somewhere within her, there’s someone kinder and more confident waiting to come out, but that version of Gretchen isn’t quite ready yet.

KAREN: Female, 18+ to play late teens. One of The Plastics. Karen is coasting through life pretty unbothered - she’s kind, easy-going, and trusting. Probably the most approachable of The Plastics. May or may not have ESPN or something - her breasts can always tell when it's going to rain. She places a lot of value in her looks. While many things may go over her head, every once in a while, she’s deeply profound (though these moments are few and far between).

AARON: Male, 18+ to play late teens. Definitely a man written by a woman - he’s not only cute but has a good moral compass and a backbone. A jock with a heart of gold. He’s authentic in a way that not many allow themselves to be at this age, and he remains more curious about life than many of his peers. He’s not immune to all the female attention he gets, but he’s not going to let himself be a pawn in their chess game either.

MRS. HERON / MS. NORBURY / MRS. GEORGE: Female, 30s-50s. Mrs. Heron is Cady’s wildlife biologist mom who can’t understand why her daughter is devolving so rapidly right before her eyes. Ms. Norbury is Cady’s world-weary Calculus teacher who pushes Cady to be her truest and smartest self. Mrs. George is Regina’s “cool mom.” She’s desperate to look young and feel like she’s one of the girls. She’s also desperate for Regina not to repeat her mistakes.

MR. DUVALL: Male, Black, 30s-50s. The principal of North Shore High. Mr. Duvall may have once taught computers to inmates at Old Joliet Prison, but nothing could have prepared him for the harsh realities of out-of-control high school girls. In fact, if he’s being honest, he’d really rather go back to teaching inmates.

KEVIN G.: Male, South Asian, 18+ to play late teens. Kevin is the extremely driven captain of the North Shore Mathletes. He believes he’s the raddest kid in school, which may or may not be true, but hey, at least he thinks he is. When he’s not competing with the Mathletes, he’s probably recording pretty decent rap singles on SoundCloud.

ENSEMBLE: Any and all genders & ethnicities, 18+ to play late teens. For the most part, the students of North Shore High School. They range from varsity jocks to rich stoners, from sexually active band geeks to members of the debate team, from show choir kids to the uncool mathletes. At times, they’re just as unruly as the wild animals Cady grew up watching in Kenya. Strong singers and dancers.
