DESCRIPTION

The Palace Theatres, a fast-paced, dynamic regional theatre company located in Manchester, NH is seeking an eager and qualified Master Electrician to oversee our lighting department needs across our multiple performance spaces.

The Palace Theatres produces eight professional musicals annually in a beautiful and historic 115+ year old theatre. The Palace Theatres also has an award-winning youth theatre program that performs approximately 20 shows per year. Between our musicals and youth theatre, we present a wide variety of concerts, rental shows, and other live events across two venues - the 800-seat Palace Theatre, and the 300-seat Rex Theatre.

Our Master Electrician will be responsible for the planning, execution, and completion of all our lighting needs for Palace Theatres' productions.

Job Description and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Artistic Director and Technical Director to fulfill the lighting requirements of each production
- Keep inventory of lighting fixtures, accessories, and other expendables across our multiple venues + storage spaces
- Maintain and repair lighting fixtures, foggers, and hazers as needed
- Recommend new fixtures/equipment as needed
- Assist with connecting/interfacing all fixtures with our lighting consoles
- Regularly attend load-in and load-out days, tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and shows as needed, in additional to scheduled shop hours
- Operate the lighting console as needed for rental events, youth theatre productions, etc.
- Assist other departments as needed based on availability
- Design opportunities may be available

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Necessary accommodations can be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The ideal candidate would possess the following:

Education and Experience:
- Associate's degree in related field, or two or more years' experience in technical theatre, stagecraft, entertainment technology/design, or related field.

Skills and Abilities Desired:
- Experience in a professional theatre setting strongly preferred
- Proficiency with ETC Lighting Consoles is a BIG plus
- Experience programming for touring acts and/or youth theatre productions
- Experience with intelligent lighting fixtures and DMX protocols strongly preferred
- Ability and willingness to supervise/lead a small team with lighting projects
- Knowledge and experience in other theatre departments (sound, video, rigging, backstage crew) is a plus; an eagerness to assist others as needed is highly desired
- Ability to drive a 26 foot box truck in tight spaces
- Excellent organizational and communication skills

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Wide range of physical movements including sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, etc. in the performance of daily activities
- Ability to lift, drag, and/or push materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Moderate exposure to loud noises, bright lights, moving theatrical elements, etc. as well as the potential for electrical shock and burn hazards
- Ability/willingness to work on ladders, mechanical lifts, and/or in high places required

Contracted position with potential for growth and/or extension to full time. Nearby housing may be provided for the right candidate.
