BREAKDOWN

LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS

Seeking Future Replacements:

SEYMOUR (Male, 20s-30s) A self-doubting, overworked florist's clerk who is the improbable hero of the story. He is a sincere, well-intentioned man who is taken for granted because of his clumsy ways and poor social skills. In love with Audrey and will do anything to protect her. Any ethnicity.

AUDREY (Female, 20s–30s) She is all heart beneath her peroxide blonde hair and suggestive outfits. She has poor self-worth and education, but incredibly good looks and a sweet and vulnerable demeanor. She has beautiful dreams for the future despite the hopelessness of her abusive situation. Any ethnicity.

MR. MUSHNIK (Male, 50s-60s) The weathered owner of the failing East Side flower shop and Seymour's boss. He is hungry for a profit, but not afraid to be gluttonous and manipulative. Any ethnicity.

DENTIST (Male, 30s-40s) An egotistical dentist with a passion for leather and sadistic tendencies. Audrey's abusive boyfriend, who is targeted by Seymour. Any ethnicity.

VOICE OF THE PLANT (18+) An actor/vocalist located offstage. The voice is that of a street-smart, funky, conniving villain. A funky Rhythm and Blues voice is best. NOTE: Actors from the global majority are encouraged to audition.

URCHINS - CRYSTAL, RONNETTE AND CHIFFON (Female, Black, Late Teens-Early 20s) are the street urchins, acting as the occasional Greek Chorus. Young. Energetic and street smart with sharp sense of humor. These girls are the only ones who have a grip on reality. Strong singers and movers.
