DESCRIPTION

Synopsis: Set at Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee, on December 4, 1956, Million Dollar Quartet captures the legendary — and unexpected — recording session that brought together Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins for the first and only time.

Sam Phillips, the visionary founder of Sun Records, has invited Carl Perkins to record new material in hopes of revitalizing his career after Elvis brought fame to Perkins’ song “Blue Suede Shoes.” Phillips has also brought in a fiery new pianist, Jerry Lee Lewis, to shake things up — literally and musically.

As the session begins, Johnny Cash stops by, quietly hinting at a major career decision, and then Elvis Presley arrives with his girlfriend Dyanne in tow. With all four icons unexpectedly under one roof, tensions rise — ego, loyalty, fame, and frustration simmer beneath the surface.

Through a mix of live rock ‘n’ roll hits, backstage banter, personal confessions, and explosive musical performances, the men reflect on their roots, their changing careers, and their complicated ties to Sam Phillips — the man who believed in each of them before the world did.

What begins as a casual jam session turns into a historic musical moment, symbolizing the birth of a new era in American music. By night’s end, paths will part, careers will change forever, and a legend will be born — the “Million Dollar Quartet.”
