Interim Properties Artisan
Temporary Position – April through June 2026

Position Overview
The Interim Properties Artisan supports the Properties Supervisor and production team in executing the props needs for an active production period from April through June for the production Elephant Shoes. This role is best suited for an experienced props professional who can step into an existing workflow and contribute to a production already in motion.

This position focuses on fabrication, organization, and day-to-day support of rehearsal and performance props during a busy production schedule.

This is a temporary, project-based role and is not a permanent position. Position is overtime eligible.

The Interim Properties Artisan reports to the Properties Supervisor and works collaboratively with the production team, prop artisans, and overhires.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, track, and maintain rehearsal and performance props.
  • Fabricate and modify props and furniture using a range of standard prop shop techniques.
  • Interpret designer drawings and notes to realize props efficiently and accurately.
  • Oversee shop overhire workflow, making sure the shop is meeting it's daily/weekly goals.
  • Help maintain organization of the prop shop, tools, and inventory.
  • Take a primary role in load-ins, notes sessions, and load-outs.
  • Attend rehearsals or production meetings as needed to support props tracking and adjustments.
  • Source materials or purchase items as needed within established processes.
  • Support a safe, organized, and collaborative shop environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in a professional theatrical or fabrication setting (LORT or equivalent strongly preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of prop shop practices, terminology, and production processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment with minimal supervision.
  • Solid fabrication skills (carpentry, painting, soft goods, or crafts) with the ability to execute clean, stage-ready props.
  • Experience supporting rehearsal processes, including the ability to change course and act nimbly while responding to rehearsal notes.
  • Ability to read drawings, pull research, and problem-solve quickly.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Clear and professional communication skills when working with supervisors, designers, and other departments.
  • Flexibility and comfort working within a changing production schedule.
  • Availability for evenings and weekends as required.
  • Ability to safely lift and move props and materials and work on your feet for extended periods.

$25.00 – $25.00 per hour
