Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC), a Tony Award-winning nonprofit theatre dedicated to the production of contemporary plays and musicals, is seeking a full-time Individual Giving Manager.

For over fifty years, MTC has been the creative and artistic home for America’s most gifted theatrical artists, producing works of the highest quality by American and international playwrights. We are strongly committed to producing work that is made by, and tells the stories of, a wide range of voices from all walks of life and to making that work accessible to all audiences including those that have historically lacked access to the arts and cultural sector. MTC produces up to eight plays annually in Broadway’s restored Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on West 47th Street and Off-Broadway at the historic NY City Center complex on West 55th Street.

Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Individual Giving, the Individual Giving Manager serves as a vital member of MTC’s fundraising team. This position supports efforts to secure over $5 million in annual individual contributions through membership, philanthropic giving, and major gift initiatives. As a donor-facing role, the Individual Giving Manager is primarily responsible for cultivating and stewarding MTC Patrons—individual donors contributing between $3,000 and $25,000 annually.

Responsibilities:

- Manage a portfolio of approximately 150 mid-level donor and prospect households, implementing tailored moves management strategies to ensure renewals, upgrades, and continued engagement.

- Work collaboratively with the Director of Individual Giving to ensure donor outreach and prospect engagement efforts across the department are strategic, coordinated, and effective.

- Take the lead in spearheading and owning the individual Giving research process, including identifying and researching major potential major donors, guiding them through the donor pipeline, and assisting with conducting event-related research. Collaborate with the Development Assistant to develop and implement research strategies.

- Lead review meetings with leadership to inform and shape donor engagement efforts, and proactively identify new prospects to contribute to program’s growth.

- Assist the Director of Individual Giving in spearheading the Planned Giving Program, helping to identify consultant and/or marketing partner, and coordinating Society benefits.

- In partnership with the Development Communications Manager, oversee the planning and execution of special fundraising campaigns such as Giving Tuesday and end-of-year solicitations.

- Assist in maintaining and growing a robust Young Patron program that acts as a pipeline for the next generation of MTC supporters.

- Contribute to the growth of the Friends Program by developing and implementing strategies for donor upgrades and new acquisitions.

- Draft letter templates for season welcome mailing and patron renewals and acquisitions

- Represent MTC at special events, including Opening Nights, ADC Events and Salons, Patron Nights, Winter Benefit, Spring Gala, and others as needed.

Requirements:

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in fundraising or equivalent sales experience
• A strong track record of fundraising, including major ($10K+) and mid-level ($5K+) gifts.
• Familiarity with Tessitura (or a similar CRM)
• Experience working in a performing arts organization or the cultural sector a plus.
• A working knowledge of Basecamp, Microsoft Office, the New York City theatre community and non-profit structures a plus.
• Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and public communication skills.
• Excellent judgment, time management, organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Some evenings and weekend hours required.

SALARY
