DESCRIPTION

Director Call – Ruth Stage at the Jersey Shore Arts Center

Ayn Rand’s The Night of January 16th is a courtroom thriller in which the audience serves as the jury, deciding the fate of a woman accused of murder. Built on competing narratives, moral ambiguity, and psychological tension, the play blurs truth, performance, and persuasion, making the audience an active participant in the drama.

Ruth Stage seeks a bold, imaginative director for this production as part of our Asbury Park residency.

This is not community theatre. We are a professional, artist-driven company known for psychologically rigorous work, high standards, and electric storytelling — intimate scale, major-league expectations.

We’re looking for a director who can elevate local actors, build gripping tension, and collaborate with producers to craft an unforgettable audience experience.

While this show is not currently slated for Off-Broadway, Ruth Stage has a major 2026 production ahead. Directors who excel may be considered for future opportunities.

$1,000 stipend.
Serious candidates only.
Unique rehearsal process explained in interview.
