Work Schedule: Full time, 40+ hours/week, primarily Mon–Fri with some evenings/weekends around launches
Start Date: Immediately

Brass Jar Productions, the team behind the hit comedy Drunk Shakespeare, is seeking a Director of Marketing & Growth to own brand, sales channels, and revenue performance across a growing portfolio of live theatrical productions.

This is a senior leadership role for a sales and marketing professional who understands that growth is not just about messaging, it’s about demand generation, conversion, pricing, and performance. You’ll be responsible for ensuring our marketing efforts translate directly into ticket sales across multiple cities and productions.

Who You Are

You are a data-literate, execution-minded marketing leader with experience operating both marketing and sales-adjacent functions. You are comfortable managing remote teams, holding people accountable to clear standards, and ensuring that marketing and box office execution translate into real revenue.

You understand that live entertainment requires precision: listings must be accurate, inventory must be visible, and sales channels must be actively managed, not assumed.

Must-Haves

  • 7+ years of experience in marketing, growth, or revenue-focused roles

  • Demonstrated experience overseeing sales or revenue-generating functions

  • Strong understanding of paid media (Meta, Google, etc.) and performance optimization

  • Working proficiency in basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar)

  • Comfort providing clear direction and feedback to outsourced designers and creative vendors

  • Strong visual judgment and understanding of brand consistency, even when design execution is delegated

  • Experience managing multi-channel campaigns across multiple markets

  • Comfort working with a variety of ticketing platforms, inventory, and pricing constraints

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate data into action

  • Experience managing and supervising remote teams

  • Experience managing internal teams and external contractors

Bonus Points

  • Experience in live entertainment, theatre, hospitality, or attractions

  • Experience scaling a multi-location consumer-facing business

  • Familiarity with group sales, partnerships, or B2B ticketing

  • Experience supervising box office or customer-facing sales teams

  • Experience auditing and improving third-party listings (Google, aggregators, ticketing platforms)

  • Comfort working closely with executive leadership on strategy and forecasting

What You’ll Do

The Director of Marketing & Growth owns both brand strategy and revenue performance, and directly supervises key sales and marketing functions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Own brand voice, positioning, and messaging across all productions and cities

  • Own all sales channels, including paid media, email, resellers, partnerships, and promotions

  • Manage and optimize advertising spend in partnership with the digital marketing contractors

  • Supervise the Box Office Manager, Group Sales Manager, and digital marketing contractors

  • Oversee box office performance, pricing execution, and inventory visibility

  • Ensure all ticket listings are active, accurate, well-placed, and optimized across platforms

  • Set and execute marketing strategy for launches and long-running shows

  • Create or adapt simple marketing assets directly to support launches, promotions, or urgent needs when outsourcing is impractical

  • Align marketing and box office execution with production schedules and inventory availability

  • Track, report on, and improve performance against revenue goals

  • Replace or restructure underperforming vendors or processes as needed

This role is accountable for results, not just activity.

What This Role Is (and Is Not)

This role is:

  • Hands on. We are a small team that accomplishes big things.

  • Revenue-owning and performance-driven

  • Strategic but highly execution-focused

  • Central to company growth and sustainability

This role is not:

  • A purely branding or design role

  • A junior channel manager position

  • A passive reporting function

Why This Role Matters

As our company scales across cities and productions, marketing must move beyond campaign-by-campaign execution. This role ensures that growth is intentional, measurable, and aligned with operational reality, protecting both revenue and brand integrity.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $140,000–$160,000 annual salary (commensurate with experience)

  • Company-sponsored health insurance (or equivalent stipend)

  • Paid time off

  • Complimentary tickets to our full slate of productions

  • Opportunity to shape growth strategy at a national live entertainment company

Location

This role is remote, with a strong preference for candidates based in or near one of our current markets: NYC, Chicago, DC, Phoenix, or Houston.
