Position Summary: The Director of Growth Marketing is a key marketing leader in the Marketing and Audience Development department responsible for driving the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s audience acquisition and concert single ticket marketing campaigns. This role is responsible for meeting or exceeding earned revenue and tickets sold on single tickets and multi-single ticket purchases for performances across a range of programming including Classical, Pops, Jazz, Family, Neighborhood, Presentations, Cube/Sosnick, and co-presentations. This position oversees activities that enhance single ticket budget capacity and brand within the community to increase or expand new audiences, driving trial and repeat purchases. This position is also the team’s strategic lead on brand creative, design, and campaign messaging.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

· Work in close collaboration with the Director of Loyalty Marketing to lead one cohesive marketing team with two strategic functions of Growth Marketing and Loyalty Marketing.

· Lead marketing team to meet and exceed ticket revenue goals to reach the organization’s budget and long-term financial plan.

· Plan, budget, and implement single ticket marketing campaigns for each performance and prospecting campaigns across all marketing channels and touch-points.

· Lead, manage, coach, and mentor the Growth Marketing Manager, Digital Advertising Manager, Brand Graphic Designer, and Marketing & Promotions Coordinator. Optimize team time and budget resources for maximum concert attendance and ticket sales.

· Act as the lead contact for media and vendor relationships including digital advertising agencies.

· In close partnership with Senior Director of Marketing & Audience Development, analyze ticket sales patterns and pacing, campaign results, and ticket sales history to determine the course of marketing campaign strategies and budget spend.

· Manage all discounts and promotions including third-party discounts, corporate sponsor offers, and other single ticket outlets to drive volume of single ticket sales and to optimize concert hall fill.

· Write creative briefs for marketing campaigns, particularly direct mail pieces, and work closely with Brand Graphic Designer on production of advertising and marketing collaterals.

· Work in collaboration and coordination with the Communications team in running integrated campaign efforts and timing for all go-to market announcements and campaigns.

· Oversee and provide marketing direction to external vendors and internal content producers for any production of video trailers and video content needs for marketing campaigns.

· Work with Web Manager to drive best practice in website user experience and provide content for performance and audience landing pages.

· Works closely with Director of Loyalty Marketing and Direct Marketing Manager to manage direct mail campaigns related to single ticket campaigns and collaborate on best practices for CRM list management.

· Lead planning and project manage new concert announcements and single ticket on-sales.

· Collaborate and coordinate with other internal departments — Advancement, Artistic, Communications, Information Technology, Patron Sales & Service — to communicate and coordinate marketing-related matters and promote proper flow of information as it relates to marketing responsibilities.

· Ensure brand standards and brand communication strategies are consistently maintained and applied through all touch points and communication platforms.

· Create cultivation programs, partnerships and programs to develop and increase millennials and Gen Z patrons, young professionals, families, BIPOC groups, and other prospective target groups’ ticket sales and ongoing audience development and growth.

· Handle all on-site promotional and branded activities that drive brand awareness and audience acquisition.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

· Five or more years marketing experience including:

o Demonstrated experience in digital marketing with understanding of digital advertising, marketing/sales funnel, data/web analytics, performance measurements, search, web UX, and A/B testing.

o Demonstrated experience in traditional marketing with understanding of all metrics to maximize RFM to reach customers effectively.

o Possesses strong integrated marketing background with experience and knowledge to manage marketing mix on digital marketing and direct response including email, print, content, social media, video ads, programmatic, mobile, PPC/SEM as well as traditional advertising, OOH, TV, radio, etc.

o Strong marketing copywriting skills and experience writing creative briefs.

· Minimum two years leading successful marketing campaigns. Strategic thinker with curiosity to understand what drives customer behavior.

· Two years' experience managing and coaching professional staff.

· Strong analytical ability setting digital performance measurements (benchmarks and KPI).

· Exceptional skills positioning promotional strategy to drive sales, direct and manage executional alignment across marketing channels.

· Ability to act independently, take initiative, and meet changing priorities.

· Successful experience working in, and contributing to, a collaborative, team environment.

Desired Qualifications:

· Experience using Tessitura.

· Three or more years’ experience managing and coaching professional staff.

· Passionate about the arts and/or classical music.

· Demonstrated experience and investment in issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

· Bachelor’s degree in marketing or business-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Information:

· This is a salaried, non-union position.

· Successful candidates must be available to work a varying schedule, including occasional nights and weekends, to meet the needs of the DSO’s performance schedule.

· All positions at the DSO require the successful completion of a background check prior to beginning employment. A criminal record does not automatically disqualify candidates.

Physical Requirements:
This role primarily works in an office environment, and frequently has prolonged periods of sitting and looking at a computer screen.

SALARY

$60,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
