ABOUT APEX TOURING
APEX Touring is the producer of the current tour of Chicago. Now in its seventh tour season, APEX has produced recent national tours including Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, Once and Finding Neverland. APEX was honored to produce the first company to bring a live production to the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Middle East with the international tour of The Wizard of Oz, which also performed across China. APEX produced the 2018 tour of Cabaret and the 2017 tour of Pippin. APEX has been created to serve the ever-expanding need for high quality, Broadway-caliber touring productions around the world. APEX looks forward to many years of producing Broadway’s brightest new shows.
Position Purpose:
APEX is seeking Company Manager for the ’26-’27 tour of Waitress. Company Manager is a key contributor to the General Management team and crucial link between touring company members, and work closely with the General Manager, CFO, and Producer. The ideal candidate will lean on their empathy, patience, and sense of humor as they navigate the needs of each individual while still following APEX policies. Applicants must work both independently and as part of a team and will have highly advanced organizational skills.
Responsibilities: (please note, this list is not exhaustive, but rather a representation of job duties)
· The Company Manager will be the Producer’s representative while on the road.
· Advancing of hotels, bus and air travel, and other logistics.
· Creating and maintaining tour itinerary and schedule.
· Act as liaison between General Management and tour presenters.
· Provide HR support for touring company members.
· Maintain weekly expense reporting, including credit card and payroll reimbursement reporting. NOTE: theatrical settlements and payroll are handling inhouse by General Mangement.
· Arrange and advance company housing and transportation, including hotel/apartment accommodations, flights (group and individual), and daily bussing.
· Company Manager will serve as the main production contact, emergency contact, and first responder to urgent matters for touring company members. Company Manager is expected to available during normal business hours, nights, and weekends.
· Company Manager will provide Injury/Illness support. This includes but is not limited to arranging doctor’s appointments for workers’ compensation claims, and working in
tandem with HR to ensure the artist has the appropriate documentation. Company Manger will also be responsible for arranging local Physical Therapy as scheduling allows.
· Support in processing and tracking performance tickets for all company members, producers, and management.
· Manage and attend company events including, but not limited to, Meet and Greets, Opening Night Parties, Company Meetings, Production Calls.
· Work with Marketing Team on logistics for interviews and company appearances outside of performances.
Qualifications & Qualities:
· Experience in Company Management. Touring experience preferred.
· Highly reliable, extremely organized, with acute attention to detail and independence—ability to set and meet priorities while accomplishing multiple tasks.
· Flexibly Responsive—can meet surprises and challenges with creative problem-solving strategies, effective communication, speed, and precision.
· Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
· Experience managing relationships with people from a variety of backgrounds; comfort in engaging frequently with new people and developing new working relationships quickly.
· Capable of responding quickly and appropriately to the often-personal needs of touring company members.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Valid driver’s license and clean DMV record.
· Valid passport with a minimum of 1 year expiration.
· Available and willing to prioritize significant evening, weekend, and long work hours.
· Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel).
· Willingness and ability to learn new software (Mastertour/Uber Corporate Platform).
· Personal laptop and cell phone required (monthly cell phone stipend provided).
