Age Range: 13–18 (Middle & HS Students)

Character Description

Angel is the radiant soul of RENT. A street percussionist and drag performer with a huge heart, Angel

brings humor, generosity, and warmth to the community around them while navigating life with HIV/AIDS.

This role requires a performer who is fearless, charismatic, and emotionally open. Angel is joyful,

compassionate, playful, and deeply human. Strong comedic instincts, movement ability, and the capacity

to handle powerful dramatic moments are essential.

Casting Notes

Angel is a queer, gender-fluid character.

All gender identities and pronouns are welcome to audition.

Drag performance experience is encouraged but not required. We are open to exploring drag

expression in the role with the performer cast.

Vocal Range

Tenor (pop/rock style)

Audition Requirements

Song: Prepare and digitally submit a 16–32 bar cut of a pop or rock song in the style of RENT.

Movement:Strong stage presence, rhythm, and comfort with movement/dance are important for this role. Comfort

moving in heels may be explored.

Monologue:

Prepare a one-minute contemporary monologue.
