Casting and seeking musicians for "The Thousand and One Nights" directed by Ghina Fawaz, a 3rd year MFA Directing thesis production under the guidance of Anne Bogart, Brian Kulick, Katherine Wilkinson, and other Columbia University School of the Arts professors.

Synopsis: Many years ago, a story was stolen from the land of people who named the stars. In this adaptation of لف ليلة وليلة (The Thousand and One Nights), we seek to reclaim the story of Scheherazade as an act of resistance. An epic tale about a King, consumed by bitterness and betrayal, who marries a new bride each night and executes her at dawn. Until a brilliant and courageous woman named Scheherazade steps forward. Each night, she tells a tale so captivating that the King must keep her alive to hear its end, only to find her beginning a new story as dawn rises. For 1001 nights, Scheherazade weaves a tapestry of tales, awakening the King’s humanity and warming his heart.

Through oral tradition, poetry, puppetry, movement, and music, we will blend classic folklore with contemporary stories, directly addressing the realities of colonialism as it has impacted indigenous communities across the globe, including Palestine. We will create a powerful narrative of resilience worthy of a thousand and one nights and dawns.
