The creative team of Quarryman - a new play written by 3rd Year Columbia University MFA Playwright Tim Lucey - is casting actors for the play's premiere at Columbia University School of the Arts New Plays Festival 2026 at the Lenfest Center for the Arts (615 W 129th St, New York, NY 10027) April 25-26.

Dates
First Rehearsal: Saturday, March 21
Tech: Tuesday, April 21 & Thursday, April 22
Performances: Saturday, April 25 at 8 PM; Sunday, April 26 at 3:30 PM; Sunday, April 26 at 8 PM
Rehearsals will generally be 6 days/week, with evening weekday rehearsals and morning/afternoon weekend rehearsals. All actors must be available for all tech and performance dates listed.
Compensation & Eligibility
Actors will receive a stipend of minimum $100 and maximum $415, depending on fundraising.
AEA actors are not permitted to participate
EMC and SAG-AFTRA actors are welcome to participate
Submission Details
Please submit a short contemporary dramatic monologue. All are welcome to audition, actors can be aged up if needed.
To audition, please fill out the Google Form attached to the bottom of this listing. The team will be accepting submissions until the form is closed. Callbacks will be held Saturday, February 28 and Sunday, March 1 on Columbia University’s campus.
Synopsis
After John Burton, a worker at a Coös County, New Hampshire quarry, goes missing, a group of fellow workers and community members try to piece together what has happened.
Content warning: mentions of drug addiction, blood, mentions of racial violence, mentions of death
Character Descriptions
TERRENCE OGDEN (late 40s-early 50s): a former addict who is trying to live right and keep his daughter safe.
KATHLEEN OGDEN (mid-late 20s, deaf): Terrence's adult deaf daughter who dreams of leaving Wolcott. Must have knowledge of/be fluent in ASL, D/deaf/HoH preferred.
JACQUES (early 30s, Haitian): A Haitian-Canadian immigrant to New Hampshire with a haunted past.
PETER (early 20s): A local boy who's spent his entire life in Wolcott who works with Jacques and Terrence in the quarry
MARTHA VAN DOERR (mid 40s): An overworked diner operator, the downstairs neighbor to the Odgens. Must have knowledge of/be fluent in ASL.
BRONWYN PARKER (mid 30s): A former beauty queen turned activist against the Morgan Stonemasonry and Quarry after her husband's wrongful death.
BILL MORGAN (late 50s-early 60s): The owner of the Morgan Stonemasonry and Quarry. Despite his older age, his anger is still young and well. Can be aged up, but preferred actor is at youngest, 40s.
