L Morgan Lee to Narrate The Listening at East Village Basement
The immersive experience blends live performance and audio design.
February 18, 2026 By Meg Masseron
Tony Award nominee L Morgan Lee, Jason Veasey, Morgan Siobhan Green, and David Israeli will star in The Listening at East Village Basement. The limited engagement will run April 7-12. Playing for just 30 guests per performance, the immersive experience blends live performance, lighting, and audio design to transport audiences through a haunting tale.
Written by Jeffrey James Keyes (Killer Chef, with James Patterson) and directed and conceived by AKS Immersive Producing Artistic Director Aaron Salazar, the production is inspired by the audio fiction series Drama: An Aural Experience™ (Anthology). Lee will narrate the performance via pre-recorded audio, with Veasey, Green, and Israeli performing live.
“As immersive experiences become more tech-focused, it is my passion and goal as a producing artistic director to focus on human-centered narrative experiences that marry with tech, such as the audio component of our upcoming production, to create bespoke performing arts experiences for our audiences,” Salazar said in a statement.
The production will feature a book by Keyes and Salazar, an original score by Manuel Pelayo and Giancarlo Bonfanti, lighting design by Sam Doty, and costume design by Matthew Solomon. Solomon and McLeod are creative producers, and Tony Mayes is a producer and production lead.
