Business Administrator (Part-Time, Remote)
Reports to: Artistic Director
Location: Remote (New York-based candidates preferred)
Hours: ~8–12 hours/month
Compensation: $25–30/hour, commensurate with experience
About the Role
Playing on Air (POA), a nonprofit audio theatre company, seeks a reliable and detail-oriented Business Administrator to oversee core financial and administrative operations. This part-time remote role focuses primarily on bookkeeping while also supporting payroll, compliance, and basic revenue tracking. The position is ideal for someone experienced in nonprofit financial administration who enjoys working independently and helping small creative organizations run smoothly.
Responsibilities
Maintain QuickBooks Online (categorize transactions, reconcile accounts, produce financial reports)
Coordinate with external accountants on annual tax filings and financial documentation
Administer payroll through Gusto and maintain payroll tax records
Track insurance policies and prepare SAG-AFTRA contribution worksheets and payments
Monitor incoming donations and payment platforms
Maintain organized financial records and support operational continuity
Qualifications
QuickBooks Online experience required
Payroll system experience (Gusto preferred)
Familiarity with nonprofit accounting practices
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and discretion
