The North American Tour of MAYBE HAPPY ENDING is seeking an Assistant Company Manager (ACM) to support the day-to-day business, logistics, and operations of the upcoming Maybe Happy Ending tour. The ACM will report to the Company Manager while collaborating with General Management, Producers, and other key constituents to ensure the experience of touring company members is well-coordinated and supported.
The ACM travels full-time with the touring company, providing on-site support and assistance in each city where the show is being presented. Hours will consistently exceed 40 per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
This role is eligible for the ATPAM NMAM program and will be contracted initially for six months, with the potential for extension. This contract will include a six week training period in another touring title to familiarize ACM with the cadence and vocabulary that will be necessary before going into the rehearsal and production process for Maybe Happy Ending.
Individuals of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. No prior commercial theater or touring experience is required for this apprenticeship. Relevant management experience from other fields, not-for-profits, or educational settings will be considered when evaluating candidates.
KEY ABIILITIES AND ATTRIBUTES:
A primary emphasis on this apprenticeship is education and development. As such, a strong desire to learn and collaborate is essential for the ACM to be successful. Additionally, the ACM should demonstrate the following key attributes:
· - Stellar time management and the ability to manage multiple priorities at once
· - Organization and exceptional follow-through with attention to detail
· - Strong interpersonal and communication skills across a broad range of situations and departments. These include local area hotel and theater partners, in addition to the traveling company and management office.
· - Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a team to solve problems under pressure with a calm and proactive approach
· - Ability to handle confidential and time-sensitive matters with discretion
· - A positive attitude, flexibility, curiosity, eagerness to learn, and customer service mindset
· - roficiency in Excel, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspaces. Other technical proficiencies are a plus.
KEY REPONSIBILITIES:
ACM will work with the Company Manager to complete these key tasks:
- Assist with payroll, union benefits reporting, and financial reconciliation including petty cash, corporate credit cards, and processing accounts payable
· - Support Company Manager in the daily operational needs of the production and management of company members across all departments.
· - Collaborate with the tour’s external human resources team to ensure all HR, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion practices are being uplifted and maintained
· - File workers’ compensation claims and assist company members with the Workers’ Compensation insurance process
· - Coordinate travel and housing for a touring company of thirty-five, plus creatives and producers, as needed
· - Assist with the planning and execution of company events, parties, and maintaining company morale
· - Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor which represents themselves, the production, and the management office positively.
· - Other responsibilities as assigned by Company Manager or management office
