Job Details

DESCRIPTION

Are you a musical theatre performer who wants to learn how to navigate auditions better to book your next job? Sign up for AUDITION SKILLS, a course that teaches actors how to audition for all styles of musical theatre.

While many classes offer just technique or feedback on pieces, this course is guaranteed to make you feel confident about auditioning in a fun and safe environment. If you're feeling frustrated you're not booking work, look no further!

The course is taught by David Alpert, an NYC-based director who has been directing and teaching for nearly 20 years. David has worked on the Broadway directing teams of IF/THEN, THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL, THE BEST MAN, and GUYS AND DOLLS; directed shows off-Broadway and across the country, has taught at New York University for eight years; and serves as the creative director for Tony Award-winner Idina Menzel. David has taught “Audition Skills” to hundreds of actors at NYU and offers a unique perspective: acting coach, director, professor, college admission adjudicator. Unlike other coaches, David has spent his entire career “behind the table” and adjusts his approach to each actor’s needs. Shane Parus (Mamma Mia, Memphis, Elf) is the class accompanist.

Through participation and observation, folks in the class will learn how to:
-find appropriate rep for auditions!
-make audition cuts that make sense for each audition!
-prepare for the many different styles of musical theatre!
-participate in mock auditions to learn those skills in a safe environment!
-communicate effectively with the accompanist!
-navigate the audition industry with better knowledge!
-became more confident in auditioning!

The class is open to performers of all ages and levels of experience—anyone wanting to learn how to audition better. This course is meant to lift actors up, rather than telling them what they can and can’t do.
