DESCRIPTION

Shakespeare Theatre Company, located in Washington, D.C., seeks an Associate Director of Production. This position will manage the production side of all rentals and internal events, and will advance all technical aspects of events including preparing set-up sheets, estimates, and settlements. The Associate Director of Production serves as an onsite point of contact for all events, as well as occasional onsite support for mainstage productions. A key component of this job is facilitating communication with internal and external stakeholders, and across all technical departments at STC to ensure smooth execution of events. In addition to production managing events, the Associate Director of Production approves all internal space requests for STC and maintains the company calendar in Propared. As needed, the Associate Director of Production works alongside the Senior Director of Production and Production Manager to support mainstage shows and other production department activities. This is a full-time position with excellent benefits and an annual salary of $65,000 - $70,000.

An ideal candidate has a strong background in theatre and event production management, including previous experience working with union crews, advancing shows, and reading technical paperwork and riders. This position will be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends, as the Associate Director of Production is the onsite point of contact for events. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in theatre or arts management with at least two years of experience in production management, theatrical rentals, and presentations is required, with additional experience in other technical fields (such as lighting or sound) preferred.
