General Summary:

Asolo Rep (LORT B) Florida’s premier professional theatre and one of the most important cultural forces in the Southeastern US is seeking to fill its Assistant Shop Foreperson Position. The Assistant Shop Foreperson is responsible for assisting the Shop Foreman in the conception, construction, and installation of all Asolo Rep scenery, and for acting as Shop Foreperson when Foreman is unavailable. The Assistant Shop Foreperson will assist in maintaining a clean, efficient, and safe scene shop environment; leading teams during load ins, strikes, and other crew calls at the Asolo Theatre, Scene Shop, Rehearsal spaces, etc.; and practice and enforce safe work practices at all times.

Responsibilities

· Assist the Shop Foreman in day-to-day shop responsibilities

· Build, install, and maintain all Asolo Rep scenery

· Lead IATSE crews during load ins, strikes, and other crew calls as necessary

· Maintain scene shop equipment, inventory, and safety procedures

· Maintain a clean, efficient, and safe work environment

Required Qualifications

· Strong background in theatrical construction, finish carpentry, welding and metalworking

· Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work with multiple departments, and to lead IATSE crews

· Punctual, self-motivated, and detail oriented. Works effectively as both a team and individual

· Comfortable working at heights from Genie lifts, ladders, and scaffolding

· Ability to lift up to 75 pounds

· Valid U.S. Driver’s License

· Night and Weekend Hours occasionally required

Preferred Qualifications

· Comfortable driving 18’ box truck or pickup with trailer attached

· Forklift Certified or willing to become certified

· Knowledge of current theatrical construction techniques and best practices

· Knowledgeable of theatrical rigging and best practices
