DESCRIPTION

The Broadway Advocacy Coalition (BAC) is now accepting applications for the seventh year of its Theater of Change: Reimagining Justice course at Columbia Law School. Applications are open to writers, performers, directors, composers, and dramturgs interested in learning how to use their skills and expertise for social change. The course will run on weekends from January 31-February 10, 2025 at Columbia Law School. Participants are paid for participation instead of receiving academic credit.

Theater of Change course empowers artists to blend art, law, and community engagement for social change. Artist participants collaborate with law students and community advocates to create performances aimed at sustainable impact. The course prioritizes leadership from those directly impacted by incarceration in policy-making. Its goals extend beyond idea exchange, aiming to build enduring partnerships for transformative work.

This semester will focus on issues of clemency for incarcerated women, community-based violence prevention, and addressing stigma against formerly incarcerated individuals in academia.
